After working a partial day, we started our journey to the Oregon Coast by driving part of the way from Carson City with a stop in Redding. Redding is becoming a frequent location to stop on a partial travel day. We stopped here last year on our way to the California Redwoods.
While the drive was uneventful, we did stop in Susanville for dinner at the Frosty Mill. Tina had the small burrito and fried mushrooms. While Tina enjoyed her meal, she would probably only order the fried mushrooms again. In hindsight, she would have ordered the corn dog with the fried mushrooms so she could have room for ice cream. I had the french dip sandwich with an order of Teezers. In case you don’t know what Teezers are (I didn’t until I ordered them), Teezers are fried tater tots with cheese and jalapeños in them. I enjoyed both items but will agree with Tina that something in my food choices has to go in order to have ice cream next time.
After dinner, we had a nice dusk/evening drive through Lassen National Forest while listening to our audiobooks. Tina was listening to The Last Thing He Told Me and I am re-listening to Game of Thrones. Sooner or later, we are going to be able to see Lassen in the daylight. We arrived in Redding and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. The room was a little dated and definitely not up to Tina’s standards in terms of decor. We used our Holiday Inn points for the room, but I would have been annoyed if I had paid full price for the room.
